Welcome Easton!

Wednesday, April 6 , 2011 (4 days before my due date), 11:55pm: we met you - the new love of our lives!! I was admitted to the hospital around 10am, after being sent by my doctor for high blood pressure. I was told they were going to do some labs and monitor my blood pressure, when the nurse came in and asked if I wanted to have you today. What the heck, why not? I called Daddy and he arrived just in time for them to break my water. It was a tolerable 12 hours of labor – thanks to the wonders of the epidural, and although the delivery could have been a little easier, I can’t really complain about 11 minutes of pushing and being rewarded with the most adorable, precious, happy, healthy baby boy! I will admit, I was a tad surprised when Daddy announced “It’s a boy!” – surprised, but overjoyed, nonetheless!

Grandma and Daddy were in the room for your arrival and they were great coaches! Papa, Aunt Coll, Aunt Clare, Papa Jim, Nana, Uncle Jim and Aunt Katie camped out in the waiting room all night just so they could meet you right away. We had several other visitors in the hospital, as people just couldn’t wait to meet you!

We went home on Friday. Your fur-brother Cooper was super excited to meet you and he has been great with you from the start. You guys are going to be the best of friends!

We're so lucky to have you! And, heck, you're pretty lucky to have us too!
I love you.

A quick recap

We had a very busy 2010 – we got a dog, Cooper, we sold our house in Redford, started building a house in South Lyon, moved in with my parents (for what was suppose to be 3 short months), and got pregnant. Little did we know we’d be living with my parents not 1 or 2...but 8 months pregnant! An October/November completion date of our house turned into Christmas, then Valentine’s Day, and as your due date approached, we were getting nervous that you would arrive before the house was ready. Thankfully, the builders got their act together and we were in with 1 month to spare. One can imagine what that month consisted of – not only was I nesting, but I was nesting in an empty house full of boxes. With the help of many, our house was put together and ready for you in no time!

First post!

Soo... I have been thinking about starting a blog and wavering on when and how and what to put in it, etc. for a long time. I routinely follow others' blogs -- from big name blogs with thousands of followers to food blogs for recipes to good friends blogs that focus on just sharing day-to-day life with close friends and family. I love them all as each is so different.

I suppose now is a good time to start! We recently welcomed a new member to our family (you!) and what better way to document your life and share the joy you bring us with friends and family. Thank you, Easton, for giving me a reason to do this. I can't wait to share it with you someday too!

I love you.
